The Dot Girl First Period Kit® ~ Review and Giveaway~Closed

Sponsored by Tomoson.com
We all know that information is power. I had an opportunity to review a product that I wish had been around when I was a teen. This little kit is a great way to prepare your daughter for her first period.  The product was developed by two sisters to help insure that your daughter's first period is a positive experience, or at least one that she will be prepared for.  The Dot Girl First Period Kit® is a stylish zippered pouch that includes:
  • The Dot Girl Period Answer Book® which answers 20 most asked questions in a way your tween or teen will not be horrified.  I liked the booklet's honest approach and that it did not have pictures.
  • 5 individually wrapped pads.
  • A reusable heating pad for menstrual cramps.
  • Two hand wipes just in case so your daughter will be prepared wherever her first period strikes.
  • Five disposal bags to cleanly and discreetly dispose of used pads.
I cannot stress how much that I liked the booklet.  It was simple yet informative.  It provided much needed information in a way you can easily discuss them with your daughter.  You could read this then give this book to your daughter/granddaughter to read then expand on with you.  There were not shocking pictures or big words.  I was a little surprised by the size of the pouch.  It may be a little big for a tween or teen's purse but would be perfect for a backpack, bathroom drawer, locker or all of the above.  It is very nicely made.  I would love to see The Dot Girl's come out with a streamlined case for carrying hygiene products once girls have started their period.  Good News!  Dot Girl products has offered one The Dot Girl First Period Kit® for giveaway.  This would be perfect for those StuffSmart readers with daughter's or granddaughters.  Don't have a daughter or granddaughter?  This would be a perfect gift to pay it forward and donate to your local school clinic or runaway shelter. Roundabouts® Cupcake Sleeves Review and Giveaway

Sponsored by Tomoson.com

As a member of Tomoson.com I was introduced to a new and exciting product for those of us that are crafty but not necessarily gifted in the kitchen.  Roundabout decorative wraps allow you to wrap an ordinary cupcake frost and have a gourmet looking cupcake all in just a few minutes.  Just take the wrap and remove the adhesive, fit it around the cupcake and adhere the adhesive to the remainder of the wrap.  Each package also includes directions for mixing icing to top your creation off.  This is an excellent idea!  Especially with everyone cutting back this product allows you to look as if you ordered your cupcakes from a fancy bakery but you'll know that you did them yourself at a fraction of the cost.

I was sent a package of Hamburger Roundabout wraps to try.  Let me tell you these look very realistic.  I can honestly say this is the only hamburger that I would eat.  I didn't have icing on hand so my cupcakes are missing the finishing touch but I think from my picture you can see that the wraps already dress up a cupcake as soon as they are attached.
We had made surprise cupcakes (chocolate cupcakes with cream cheese and chocolate chips in the middle).  Though it was not iced you can see how well the Roundabouts dress up an ordinary cupcake.  Also the possibilities are almost limitless with 70+ designs to choose from.

I'm sure that you've noticed by now that I can be a little wacky.  I am an avid recycler and love to find alternate uses for things.  When I finished the above cupcake I had the urge to slip the Roundabout on as a bracelet.  I could just see kids doing this at a party.  I think it's a pretty cool way to reuse this product.
Of course the Roundabout website also tells that they are acid free and can be used in scrapbooking and can be wiped clean and reused.  If reused you can use a bit of frosting to adhere them the second time.

Roundabouts were created by a mom of two who began selling these ingenious creatious in February of 2009.  In a short time her product has been featured in Rachel Ray Magazine and won The Most Innovative Exhibitor Award at the 2010 CA gift show in LA.

Roundabouts® has offered a giveaway for a StuffSmart reader.  They are offering a pack of Roundabouts to one lucky winner.  Even better, the winner will get to choose from their extensive selection of designs!  Please read the following rules:  US only.  Winner will be selected by Random.org and notified by email.  Winner must respond within 48hrs or another winner will be chosen.  Contest begins 2/10/11 at 3:00pm EST and end 2/17/10 at 11:00pm EST.

EcoSmart All Natural Insect Repellent Review and Giveaway!

Sponsored by Tomoson.com

When I first heard about EcoSmart I was very excited to learn more about their products.  I am always trying to further reduce my carbon footprint and maintain a safe environment for my family.  I viewed their product website and chose to review the Safe Home Value Bundle which includes:  14 oz can -Ant and Roach Killer, 24 oz spray bottle Home Pest Control, 14 oz can-Flying Insect Killer, 6 oz bottle -Insect Repellent. ($31 Value.  Their bundles offer significant savings!  Bundle price is $24)

One of the great things that attracted me to EcoSmart is that their products are safe to use around children as well as being non-toxic.  Upon receiving this bundle I started reading the ingredients and was pleasantly surprised by the list of natural plant derived oils and ingredients.  Thankfully because of the cold weather there aren't really pests around but I did treat indoors with the Home Pest Control Spray.  The products smell so good.  I will say though I would recommend that you treat your home in sections or heavily ventilate.  I treated all at once at night in the dead of winter so didn't have any ventilation other than ceiling fans and the smell was quite strong but that was my fault.  It didn't take long for the spray to dry and smell to dissipate.  Hopefully I am now well prepared for the ants who like to come marching in when we have spurts of warm weather then arrive in full force when spring arrives.  The all natural insect repellent will be perfect for warding off pest during outdoor play and cookouts.

I also read on EcoSmart's website and you can too that their products are used for woodworm treatment.  To be honest I wasn't familiar with woodworms until I read about them on their site.  Basically they are pesky wood eating insects whose damage is compared to that of termites.

You will also be glad to know that you can conveniently order Ecosmart products online or find them in stores near you with their store locator tool.  I know that Home Depot carries their products.  I think you will be pleasantly surprised too that the price of EcoSmart's products won't break the bank like some Eco-Friendly products do.  Their prices are competitive to other name brand toxic products so why expose your family to toxins?

I have great news!  EcoSmart is sponsoring a giveaway here on StuffSmart.  If you would like a chance to win a value pack of your choice from EcoSmart please read the rules below.
